...I've got 42 of the tracks completely recorded for the new disk now.

I'm at the point where the CD's release now hinges entirely on other people who know who they are, most of them (I'll check on one of my "Don't Swat the Fly" protesters). But yeah, until I get stuff from other people, all my work is done! Those of you who still have something, could you please let me know when you'll have that done? Thank you.

Con on the Cob

Con on the Cob was fun! It was different this year for the comedy music thing because most of us there were FuMP Sideshow people. The exceptions were Positive Attitude and Worm Quartet!

I personally had been videotaping my personal experience, which I plan to make into a personal DVD, perhaps just for friends. Though I did get some moments which, as soon as I transfer them to my computer, they will be going up on YouTube.

Probably the best moment of the con was the first ever live performance of Steve and Evan (Shoebox's and EMC's kids, respectively) during the Dementia Smackdown, and EMC wanted me to get that up on YouTube.

Alchav won the Corny award this year! Congrats!

If I had more time, I'd say more about the con (but I'm sure others are typing up reports). Unfortunately, now that I'm back at college after my nice break (I had Friday off), I have schoolwork, and I have class in 15 minutes. My song "Busy College Days" is so applicable, it's not even funny!

As I said, when I get the time, I'll be putting some videos up on YouTube.

Anyone know how to contact Logan Whitehurst's father? Devo Spice told me that's who I have to contact about doing a cover of one of his songs for my CD, but said he lost the contact info, and I couldn't find it anywhere. If anyone could help me, that would be awesome! Thank you.

'tis a busy week

It's been a busy week for me this week. Five days of homework to be crammed into 3.

Monday was my Mom's birthday, so after classes, I went home (we weren't able to go out and do anything since she was sick though, which sucked) and we ordered some take-home food from a nearby restaurant called "China House."

Today is Kelly's birthday. You may remember how endlessly I talked about her earlier this year! Not sure what we're doing yet, but I've been informed of some good ideas, so we'll see when I'm done with my final class.

Other than that, I got about a month to finish the new disk. Good news is, I'm nearly there. I just got one more song to write and then do a handful of vocalizations, and then wait on the contributions of those who are still involved, so we'll see how that goes.

What's everyone else up to?

After a series of tentative track lists, I think I've finally typed up a notepad file giving my FINAL track list for the new album that will hopefully be done soon! We're looking at 44 tracks for this one. The last 6 tracks I uploaded to the FuMP Sideshow are previews of it.

I should upload another at some point...

I couldn't help but laugh when I saw this...

To anyone who might want a sample of me shouting "Don't Swat the Fly," I got one here.

I did record this while my mom was asleep, with two shut doors between us, but I think it's close enough to give you what I'm looking for. That should help on top of the rhythm from last entry.

But, on the plus side, I've got all my vocals recorded for a couple extra songs that merely await a few things...

1) "Don't Swat the Fly." I want to see how many people I can get to record themselves shouting the words "Don't Swat the Fly!" for a song I'm working on with that title. If interested, there's a certain rhythm I want everyone to have when they shout it, each word lined up to a beat as delegated by this MP3 here. You can email me with that, and once I get a good hanful of them, I'll put them together to put in my song.

2) "Twitter" (This release still hinges on Kristi. The rush still isn't huge, and I totally understand that with the wedding and all, there's a lot going on, and I send congratulations on it and everything!)

I have other short things that I've recorded bits and pieces for, and I just need to compile my vocal doings with some things on my laptop and I'll have those completed!

I'm also trying to decide which song to upload to the FuMP Sideshow next.

Now that my workday at Domino's in Hilliard has been moved to Wednesday, I get the house to myself for a couple hours on Thursdays. So, let's see what I can accomplish tonight. As of this entry, I have 11 tracks completely recorded for my new disk. I will update you after the night is over with the new total. (Given I have a lot of instrumental backings completed and just need to add vocals, this should give me a tremendous jump).

I sat in my room, took a piece of paper, and wrote down a tentative track list for the new CD. This is based on ideas I've already decided on recording, though some things may get switched around or dropped, hard to say. But so far, I've got a potential list comprising of 37 tracks! 9 of them are completely recorded, and I have a handful of instrumental backups completed where all I need to do is record vocals (Some stuff not just my vocals), so I should be well on my way. As long as I don't dilly-dally, the new disk should be available at COTC, the way I planned the last two for the last two COTC's! I will try to release at least a few more tracks to the FuMP Sideshow before the CD is released, but I don't wanna overdo it.

I bet everyone's looking forward it now!

In other news, the music for my Twitter song is coming along pretty nicely. I just need to add a few other things to it to make it sound the way it needs to. I've gotten a handful of 'mock tweets' from one person, and as soon as everyone who wanted to be involved sends something (All 1 of you), I'll throw it all together and compile the epic masterpiece!

Just tonight, I went from having 5 new recordings (since the release of "Epic Fail") that take 2:35 to listen to to having 7 recordings that take 5:28 to listen to, meaning I have a full-length song recorded now! I've submitted it to the FuMP Sideshow, and the thing said May 30, if I remember correctly (a week from this Saturday).

I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but...

There are reasons (copyright reasons) why I cannot do this as a studio track and sell it, but I came up with something that peaked my curiosity, and I wonder if I can pull it off for a live performance sometime, and this thought actually scared me.

Just got done trying out Carrie's "Giant Kitten" like I said I would.

One real plus the disk gives is that you've got a decent portion of songs (such as "Sleepwalking Zombies" and "The Last Half Birthday") about general topics, so that someone like me who lives under a rock actually understands them! Joking aside, I actually do know some of the stuff you sang about, and I think you captured those quite well ("Dear Britney" and "Stupid as Charged" were well written). So, I'd have to say that I got quite a bit of enjoyment out of the disk. Looking forward to future efforts.
